Bulgarian Register of Shipping (BRS) establishes technical requirements for containers in accordance with the International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) and carries out technical supervision to ensure their compliance.
BRS develops and applies its own Rules, defining the standards and criteria for the design, manufacture, and operation of containers. The purpose of this supervision is to verify that containers, as well as the materials and components used in their construction, meet all applicable requirements.
BRS performs technical supervision covering:
Review and approval of container design documentation
Verification of compliance with applicable Rules and international requirements
Inspection during the construction of containers
Verification of materials and components used in production
Periodical inspections during the operational life of containers
Assessment of structural condition and continued compliance
Compliance with BRS Rules and additional requirements is the responsibility of:
Design organizations
Manufacturers and repair facilities
Container owners
Producers of materials and components
The supervision performed by BRS does not replace the internal technical control exercised by manufacturers or container owners. Instead, it provides an independent verification ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
