Delivering trusted classification, certification and technical services to the global maritime industry at every stage of a vessel's lifecycle.
Pursuant to an agreement concluded in December 2016 with the Executive Agency Maritime Administration, Bulgarian Register of Shipping (BRS) is authorized to perform surveys and certification of vessels flying the Bulgarian flag that fall outside the scope of the international conventions SOLAS 1974, LOAD LINES 1966 and MARPOL 73/78.
This mandate covers small and non-convention vessels, where BRS acts as a technical authority ensuring compliance with national regulatory requirements and applicable standards.
BRS is authorized to perform the following activities:
Approval of technical documentation related to construction, conversion, and modification
Review and assessment of floating structures and port-related installations
Technical supervision during construction, conversion, and modification of vessels
Oversight of compliance with approved documentation and applicable rules
Initial and periodical surveys of hull, machinery, and electrical installations
Issuance and renewal of Certificates of Fitness
Annual surveys of small and non-convention vessels
Verification of compliance with requirements related to structure, equipment, outfit and safety arrangements
Inspections under applicable national regulations (including Ordinance No. 68)
Seasonal passenger vessels – verification of condition and confirmation of no modifications
One-voyage certificates
Towing certificates
Thickness measurements and structural condition assessment
Offshore racing yacht compliance inspections
Review, survey, and certification of floating hydrotechnical facilities within ports and specialized terminals
Surveys and certification of systems for underwater operations
Measurement of inland waterway vessels in accordance with national regulations
Tonnage measurement of seagoing vessels
Any other surveys and technical services upon specific authorization by the Administration
